The convocation ceremony was held on November 14, 2024, alongside the inauguration of the college auditorium. Mrs. Roli Singh, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event was further honored by the presence of Dr. Amita Bali, Deputy Director General, MOHFW; Dr. Vikas Gupta, Dean of Delhi University; and Dr. Deepika Khakha, who served as Guests of Honour. The auditorium was inaugurated by Mrs. Roli Singh.
Workshop Report: Maternal Newborn Health Competencies for Nursing Students

• Date: 8th to 10th January 2025
• Venue: RAK College of Nursing
• Participants: 62 students attended the Pre-OSCE session, and 61 students participated in the Post-OSCE session.
Objective
The workshop aimed to enhance nursing students' competencies in maternal and newborn health, focusing on practical training and assessments for essential care and clinical management skills.
Day 1: 8th January 2025

The session aimed to evaluate students' baseline competencies in maternal and newborn health care before hands-on training sessions
Day 2: 9th January 2025
• Inauguration: The formal inauguration session was graced by Dr. Deepika C. Khaka, Nursing Advisor, DGHS, MOHFW along with Dr.Daisy Thomas, Acting Vice Principal, Mrs.Sarita Shokanda, Academic In-charge, Mrs. Madhumita Dey, HOD, Continuing education department, Mrs.Mitali Biswas, B.Sc.coordinator along with other senior faculties of the RAK college of nursing.
• The inaugural session was followed by hands-on training sessions focused on:
o Normal Vaginal Delivery and Active Management of the Third Stage of Labor (AMTSL)
o Essential Care for Every Baby
o Newborn Resuscitation
o Management of atonic PPH
o Uterine ballon tamponade
• The training was conducted by experts from Laerdal and the RAK team. Students engaged in skill-building exercises divided into smaller groups for personalized guidance from facilitators.
Day 3: 10th January 2025
• The workshop concluded with the Post-OSCE assessment to evaluate students' competency after the hands-on training sessions.
• The feedback from participants highlighted significant improvement in practical skills and confidence in maternal and newborn care techniques.
Highlights
Practical Learning:
Hands-on sessions were prioritized to ensure comprehensive training in maternal and newborn care.
Digital Integration:
Practice sessions were recorded and made available on digital platforms for student review. OSCE evaluation done at digital platform.
Group-Based Training:
Training in small groups of 15 facilitated personalized coaching by facilitators from Laedral team.
Assessment and Certification:
Students underwent objective structured clinical examinations (OSCE) and received e-certificates upon successful completion.
Outcomes:
• Enhanced clinical competencies in maternal and newborn health care.
• Improved student confidence and preparedness for real-world clinical scenarios.
• Hands-on experience and skills assessment using digital platforms for better training efficiency.
Conclusion
The Maternal Newborn Health Competencies Workshop successfully met its objectives of equipping nursing students with essential skills. The structured agenda and comprehensive training sessions fostered both theoretical understanding and practical proficiency.
